Kainos editorial journal · 2026
Cookie notice · reviewed 5 October 2026
1. What cookies do
Cookies are small files or browser records that help a website remember choices and understand basic use. Kainos keeps them limited because a publication should not need an extensive profile of a reader.
2. Essential records
The cookieChoice record remembers whether a visitor selected Accept or Reject. It may remain for 180 days. Hosting systems may create short-lived security or session records required to deliver pages safely.
3. Analytics
Where enabled and permitted, analytics helps us understand page views, referral categories, device class, and approximate geography. We review aggregate information rather than attempting to identify individual readers.
4. Preferences
Preference records can remember accessibility or display choices when such a feature is introduced. They are not used to infer medical status, income, or personal training goals.
5. Control
You can reject optional cookies through the banner or clear records in your browser. Blocking essential records may affect the display of some features, but editorial reading should remain available.
6. Providers
Hosting, security, and measurement providers may process technical information under their own documented safeguards. We do not permit providers to sell Kainos reader profiles.
7. Transfers
Providers may operate in other jurisdictions. The privacy policy explains the general approach to international transfers and reader requests.
8. Retention
Choice records expire after 180 days. Security records generally remain for 90 days. Aggregated statistics may be kept longer when they no longer reasonably identify a person.

10. Revision
This notice was reviewed on 5 October 2026. We will date future revisions and explain material changes in plain language.
In practical terms, cookieChoice is a preference record rather than a profile. A short-lived session record may exist only while a page request is being delivered, while optional measurement records, if enabled, are configured with a limited lifespan and reviewed in aggregate. Names and lifespans can change when the hosting or measurement configuration changes, and the notice will be updated to describe material changes. Browser deletion removes local records but does not automatically delete a message previously sent to Kainos.
To ask about a cookie, contact Kainos at Jl. Kebon Jeruk Raya No. 120, RT.005/RW.007, Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta Barat, DKI Jakarta 11530, Indonesia, or +62 21 7891 0345. We aim to respond within 7 business days. This notice was reviewed on 5 October 2026, and the next review will follow a material change in providers, consent controls, or applicable Indonesian requirements.
The cookieChoice record is a preference mechanism and does not contain a name, email address, reading history, or health information. It may store a simple Accept or Reject value for up to 180 days so the banner does not appear on every visit. A session record created by hosting may expire when the browser session ends or sooner if the request is completed. Security records may use short-lived identifiers to distinguish repeated automated requests from ordinary page delivery. These records are reviewed for operational purposes and are not used to build a personal training or advertising profile.
If optional measurement is enabled, an analytics record may use a first-party or provider-managed identifier with a lifespan selected to limit repeat recognition, commonly no longer than 13 months. Reports are configured around totals such as page views, referral category, device class, and broad geography. Kainos does not intentionally combine those totals with newsletter correspondence to identify an individual reader. Measurement may be disabled through the consent control or browser settings, and rejecting it does not prevent access to ordinary editorial pages. Provider documentation may describe additional technical names, which is why this notice is reviewed after configuration changes.
Preference records may be introduced for text size, contrast, language, or navigation settings. If such a feature is introduced, the record will be limited to the selected setting and will not infer a person's medical status, income, age, or personal goals. Clearing browser data removes the local choice, although a server-side suppression record may be retained where needed to honour an unsubscribe request. Browser controls differ between Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and mobile browsers, so a reader should use the privacy or site-data panel for the relevant device. Kainos will not treat a browser's inability to store a preference as a reason to block access.
Hosting, security, and measurement providers may process technical information under written or documented service terms. A provider may operate outside Indonesia, and the privacy policy's transfer safeguards apply to that processing. Providers receive the minimum technical fields required for delivery, abuse prevention, or aggregate measurement and are not permitted to sell Kainos reader profiles. Choice records are normally retained for 180 days, security records for about 90 days, and aggregate statistics may be retained longer when they no longer reasonably identify a person. A material change to names, purposes, or lifespans will be reflected in this notice.
